Dear Westborough Fine Arts Parents, Guardians and Friends,

As you begin the 2008-2009 school year and consider opportunities to enrich your student's educational experience, become involved in the schools or give back to the community, we hope you will consider membership and participation in the Westborough Music Parents' Association.

Although the "Music Parents" in our name may lead you to think otherwise, you need not be the parent of a music student to join or be active in WMPA. Our members include:

• Parents and guardians of students in all grades who volunteer their time and talent
• Alumni who take special interest in supporting Fine Arts education
• Community members who appreciate the cultural benefits of a premier Fine Arts program

WMPA members support the Fine Arts faculty and students in all grades by providing both necessary funds and volunteer hours. The organization is proud to be able to lend a hand to the staff, helping with special projects, concerts, field trips and general "as needed" support. Members also provide financial support for WMPA activities with their membership dues.

Some of the ways WMPA has supported the Fine Arts in Westborough in the past year include:

• Raising funds to confer 42 scholarships and administer another 13 presented to music students in the Class of 2008
• Providing support for the IAJE-MA State Big Band Finals hosted at Westborough High School
• Co-sponsoring "Juliet Lloyd: Live in Concert" at Westborough High School
• Providing chaperones for music ensemble trips
• Financing clinicians to enhance Gibbons Middle School and WHS music programs
• Providing refreshments at school concerts and Symphony Pro Musica performances

In addition to continuing many of our traditional activities, our plans for the coming year include:

• A Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser in conjunction with the Westborough Athletic Boosters Association
• Funding the purchase of much-needed instruments and enhanced support of music clinicians
• A new website to provide more information on WMPA volunteer opportunities and activities

Attached on this site is a membership form.  Memberships that include advertisements or listings in our "Season for the Arts" concert program must be received by October 1, but we will accept memberships at any time.  In addition, please consider the volunteer opportunities listed on the reverse of the form.

WMPA meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the library at the high school. We hope you will join us! We look forward to your financial and volunteer support as we enter our 31^st year supporting Westborough's Fine Arts program.
