High School Student Max Silverman is selected as the National High School Spirit of Sport Award Nominee.
March 30, 2012. Westborough High School sophomore Max Silverman was selected by the MIAA as the Massachusetts nominee for the National High School Spirit of Sport Award. This award was created by the National Federation of State High School Associations to recognize individuals who exemplify the ideals of the spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics. Max was chosen as the Massachusetts nominee for his efforts to unite the Westborough football team, school and the business community to thank and support local active-duty soldiers and veterans. Max created the nonprofit "Touchdown for America". He started a donation campaign to coincide with the 2011 football season. Throughout the season, thousands of dollars worth of donations and personal care items were collected, packaged and shipped overseas to U.S. troops. Max, only a sophomore plans to continue the "Touchdown for America" initiative again next year. The MIAA and the entire community of Westborough High School applaud his efforts.
Sincerely
